Piqua Freewill Baptist

Church History

The Piqua First Freewill Baptist Church began on October 2, 1966 in a small storage building at the corner of McKinley Avenue and South Street in Piqua, Ohio. The Rev. Bob Mabry was the church's first pastor. Helping to get the church started, was Bro. Dewey Hagar, Bro. Rowe Cantrell, and several others.

The congregation purchased our current property and building at 1500 Clark Avenue in April of 1970. We have had a total of eight pastors in our history, they include; Rev. Bob Mabry, Rev. Bob Bryant, Rev. Max Sparks, Rev. James Steven, Rev. Jim Baldwin, Rev. Jim Blackburn, Rev. Steve Sykes, and Rev. Dennie Cantrell.

The church has changed greatly over the years, with the original rectory renovated into our current Fellowship Hall. We completed a church sanctuary remodel in 2010, and purchased the property behind the church in 2017, with the hope to build a new fellowship hall. We pray that God will continue to help us prosper.
